John Leslie 4/14/26 12:20 AM The Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness is not only a demonstrable failure, it is making the problem worse. It is actually funding the demise of people caught in addiction and funding pathways for more to succumb. The underlying Housing First model that all this funding is based on has not only failed to end homelessness, it has expanded it. There is nothing compelling avoidance or exit from government dependance. Nothing compelling treatment but rather entrenchment and continuance. In the case of drug addicts, this is a state sponsored assisted suicide program. Until the failure of the Housing First model is acknowledged and rejected, we will all be sponsors of expanding misery for both the recipients and the taxpayers. This does not even touch on the waste, fraud and abuse that is being exposed every day. If you deny the existence of this in Pierce County funding, you have no place in authority over these matters. Every Council Member who votes for this Resolution will be on public record as culpable in the crisis and disasters that have already occurred and will continue through resolutions like this. Voters may be completely unaware or have a short memory, but I don’t and I will remind them.
