Heather Benedict 5/30/25 6:20 PM I oppose Proposed Ordinance 02025-513 because it attempts to sidestep the voters yet again. Pierce County just paid $1 million to settle with an appointed clerk Constance White whose tenure resulted in catastrophic mishandling of court records, especially in probate. This isn’t about race—it’s about accountability. The Clerk of Court must be elected, not appointed through backroom politics that fail families.
