Rebecca Sadinsky 6/12/17 2:07 PM Dear Pierce County Council, I am speaking for PCC Farmland Trust, a statewide farmland conservation organization. We have focused on Pierce County farmland loss for 10 years and been able to assist 10 properties to return to or remain in the care of farmers. Across those 10 years PCC Farmland Trust has been an active participant in community and Pierce County led consideration of the ARL mapping error in the Pierce County Comprehensive Plan. That is, in conversation with County staff, community meetings, and council hearings about the ARL mapping error across most of the past 10 years. We have written many a letter to the current and past council members in support of updates to the ARL definition such that Pierce County would be able to have an accurate map with adequate amount of the best farmland identified as ARL. Therefore, it is a great disappointment that the Council would choose, even after hiring a consultant team to study it and holding an effective public process, to knowingly keep the errant map.
